Natalia and Marcus met in Dumbo in the wake of the pandemic, each embarking on a new sculptural journey. Their paths converged at LoveHouse, where the gallery’s openings fostered deep connections within New York’s design and art community, accelerating their individual practices.

This piece marks their first formal creative collaboration, merging two distinct and opposing sculptural languages into a singular, layered composition. It envisions a future where fragile ceramics from the past are preserved—encased within a protective yet transparent shell, safeguarding history while revealing its beauty.

At its core, a porcelain and glazed floor light sculpture emerges from within a translucent resin encasement, which forms its own distinct, monolithic geometry. The interplay between these two forms—one delicate, the other robust—creates a dynamic visual dialogue. Subtly embedded LEDs illuminate the ceramic work from within, refracting and distorting through the highly polished resin, enhancing the contrast between fragility and strength.

While each element of the sculpture could exist independently, together they form a composition greater than the sum of their parts—echoing the way a family functions, where individual identities are preserved within a shared structure of support and interdependence.
